Pelion in Greece is a perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is place of unspoilt natural beauty that is quiet, quaint and ideal for a family vacation. The closest town is Volos and it has a port and a small airport where only charter flights land so if you want to get away, there isn’t a better getaway spot. A vacation in Pelion is the perfect opportunity to sample authentic dishes. The taverns and cafes serve a variety of them. This includes boubari, a local sausage, variety of fishes; spetsofai which is a spicy sausage stew made with peppers and red sauce and is also a local traditional dish. Vegetable specialties are also served and so are cheese specialties like feta cheese and galotyri . Karidopita and mpaklavas, a sweet pastry, are two desserts you have to try.
